Neuromuscular Therapy Introduction

  • Oregon School of Massage - Portland 9500 SW Barbur Blvd. Suite 100 Portland Oregon 97219 USA

Class Description

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a highly effective and specific form of therapeutic massage for the treatment of acute and chronic injuries, postural syndromes, athletic performance optimization, and much more. NMT uses wooden tools called T-Bars for gentle yet very thorough assessment and treatment of muscle bellies, tendons, and attachment sites. In this 3-hour introductory course you will learn the history of NMT as well as the underlying neurological and physiological concepts involved in Neuromuscular Therapy and the body’s response to treatment. Participants will become familiar with the six different T-Bars and their appropriate use. This is a great chance to learn how to use T-Bars and what it feels like to receive T-Bar work. Upon completion, you will have the necessary background and preparation for the 4-part NMT training through Oregon School of Massage. Prerequisite: AP I, Kines-Upper Body or equivalent (3 CEs)
